Yam Porridge/pottage is a nigerian traditional dish which originated from the Yoruba and Benin people of Nigeria. The base of this delicacy is usually yam tubers but other variants of this meal have been created. Today, we'll show you how to cook Yam-Potato porridge. This dish can be garnished with vegetables such as peppers, onion, leafy greens, etc. Protein such as beef, chicken, fish can be used to supplement the dish according to preference.

Description

Enjoy this yam and potatoes porridge recipe with friends and family. This recipe has been prepared carefully to give you the best culinary experience.

Ingredients
  • 2 kg yam (cut into small-sized cubes)
  • 1 kg potatoes (cut into small-sizedcubes)
  • 75 g onion (Blend with pepper)
  • 100 g scotch bonnet pepper (Blend with your onions)
  • 2 tbsp salt (Use to season fish and to food for taste.)
  • 140 g seasoning cube
  • Parsley
  • Sausage
  • Tomato paste
  • Garlic powder
  • Fish
  • Vegetable oil
Instructions
  1. Start your dish by prepping your ingredientsPicture curring yam to cook
    • Peeling yam and your potatoes, cut them to size and set aside.
    • Blend your onions and pepper.
    • Clean, season and fry your fish
    • Cut to size and sauté your sausages
  2. Pour your blended mix into your heated oil

    Ensure the oil is hot enough before pouring your mixture.

    Add garlic powder, add tomato paste, add salt and cover to cook

    After few minutes, add water then put in your yam and potatoes

  5. Also, add your blended crayfish, season to your taste, stir and cover

    Once your tubers are soft add your sautéd sausage, add your fried fish and garnish with parsley

    Add these in turn and wait a few minutes after adding one before adding the other
  7. then leave to simmer for few minutes.

  • Cook this recipe at medium heat.
  • Use fresh ingredients for better taste
